Your local physio on the Balmain peninsula

RedoHealth Balmain is on Mullens St, near the corner of Reynolds St and diagonally opposite the Balmain Hotel. We treat the people who live and work here: rowers off the Parramatta River, tradies, desk-bound commuters, new mums, and locals who intend to keep playing sport well into their sixties.

Every appointment is one-on-one with the same clinician in a private room. You leave with a diagnosis you understand and a plan you can follow, not a standing weekly booking.

One-on-one, always

No double-booked rooms, no handing you to an assistant.

No referral needed

Book directly. Bring a GP or specialist referral if you have one.

Rehab gym on site

Reformers, racks and space to test the thing that hurts.

Telehealth option

Redo Online for travel, illness or interstate follow-ups.

04 / Your first visit

What happens at your first appointment

Your first physiotherapy appointment is 60 minutes, giving us time to understand your problem, assess how your whole body may be contributing, begin treatment and develop a clear plan forward. Follow-up appointments are generally 45 minutes.Wear comfortable clothes you can move in, and bring any relevant scans, reports or referrals you already have.

1

Your story and goals

We start by understanding what’s been happening, what affects your symptoms and, importantly, what you want to get back to, whether that’s sport, work, exercise or everyday life.

2

A thorough physical assessment

We assess the area causing you trouble as well as how the rest of your body moves and functions. This may include movement, strength, joint and functional testing in the treatment room and gym.

3

Treatment from your first visit

Where appropriate, treatment begins during your first appointment. This may include hands-on physiotherapy, movement strategies and exercises chosen specifically for what we find during your assessment.

4

A clear plan forward

Before you leave, we’ll explain what we’ve found, what we think is contributing to your problem and what we recommend next. You’ll have a clear plan for your rehabilitation, including exercises where appropriate and guidance on follow-up care.

08 / FAQ

Questions Balmain patients ask us

Still unsure? Call the clinic →

Do I need a referral to see a physio in Balmain?

+

No. You can book physiotherapy at RedoHealth Balmain directly without a GP referral. Bring your paperwork if you have a GP chronic condition management plan, a workers compensation or CTP claim, or an NDIS plan, since those affect what you pay.

How much does an appointment cost?

+

Fees depend on which clinician you see. Initial consultations run 60 minutes and standard follow-ups run 45 minutes.

PractitionerInitialFollow-up
Brendan McGovern$225$175
Jane Le Fevre$270$202.50
Melinda Luck$225$175
Roisin Duffy$210$170
Lawrence McGrath$195$155
Josh Gillonexercise physiology$175$135, or $100 for 30 minutes

Group classes run in 10-week terms: Physiotherapy classes $400, Exercise physiology classes $330.

We claim private health rebates on the spot through HICAPS, so you only pay the gap.

How soon can I get an appointment?

+

Most new patients are seen within the same week, and we hold early-morning and late-afternoon slots for people working around a commute. Acute injuries should call the clinic on 02 8021 2180. We keep a small number of same-day appointments.

Is there parking at the Balmain clinic?

+

Yes. There is free two-hour street parking nearby, with the best availability on Reynolds St near the Mullens St corner. There are also bus stops on both sides of the street right by the clinic, and the Balmain ferry wharf at Mort Bay is around a 15 to 20 minute walk.

Do you see workers compensation, CTP and NDIS patients?

+

Yes. RedoHealth treats icare workers compensation and CTP (car accident) patients at the Balmain clinic. We’re not a registered NDIS provider, but we can see self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants. Mention your claim or plan when you book so reception can set up the paperwork before you arrive.

What should I wear and bring?

+

Wear clothes you can move and exercise in, and bring your private health card plus any scans, imaging reports or referrals. Part of the assessment happens in the gym, so shoes you can run or squat in help.

How many sessions will I need?

+

It depends on what’s going on. A recent, straightforward injury is usually easier to put a timeframe on than a longstanding or complex problem. At your first appointment we’ll explain what we’ve found, what we think is contributing, what treatment and rehabilitation will involve, the likely timeframe and the next steps.
