Exercise physiology can help you recover from an injury, and improve your fitness without aggravating injuries.

Exercise physiologists complete a thorough assessment of their client’s overall health to assist with:

​An accredited exercise physiologist is a university trained allied health professional. They use exercise to help clients achieve their health goals. Exercise physiologists study the human body, diseases and the mind.

Your exercise physiologist can provide a tailored exercise program to help you achieve your health and wellness goals, including weight loss and maintenance.

Depending on your goals, exercise therapy can assist you with:

  • Balance and fall prevention
  • Cancer management
  • Chronic health conditions (such as diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity, hypertension, chronic pain and osteoporosis)

Depending on your circumstance, EP sessions can include motivational techniques, exercise interventions, lifestyle planning and ongoing support. Your exercise program will be tailored specfically to you and includes clearly defined goals and targets.

Ongoing support and regular check-ins are provided for all our clients. 

Your exercise physiologist will coordinate with your other health professionals. Where required your GP, specialists, or your health fund will be engaged to ensure a collaborative approach to your treatment.

  1. Your sessions start with a thorough assessment of your current health and exercise history.
  2. This will be followed by a physical evaluation to identify key health indicators (such as blood pressure, heart rate, body composition, muscle strength and fitness levels).
  3. Next, you are guided on how exercise can improve your condition and undertake a personalised and targeted exercise session in the clinic.

Types of exercises included in therapy:

  • Walking, cycling or swimming to improve cardiovascular health
  • Resistance training using weights, resistance bands or bodyweight to improve strength, muscle tone and body composition
  • Balance and mobility exercises to improve whole body coordination
  • Breathing and relaxation techniques to improve physical and mental health
  • Core strength and endurance training
  • Posture correction
  • Stretching
