REMEDIAL MASSAGE THERAPY
Massage Therapy Services we offer:
Deep Tissue Massage (DTM) – Remedial Massage
Deep tissue massage is a specific type of massage that works on the deep layers of muscle and fascia in the body. It involves applying firm pressure and slower more specialised strokes and techniques in order to reach those deeper layers of muscles and their origins and attachment sites.
Techniques include trigger point release, acu-pressure, cross fibre frictions and compressions, active and passive release and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) resistance stretching and strength building activities.
This style of massage is highly effective to reduce and help manage chronic aches and pain, assists in injury recovery and/or prevention, improves range of motion, flexibility and postural imbalances and a great stress buster.
Foot / Hand Reflexology
More than a foot or hand massage, reflexology is based on the Chinese principal the anatomy of the body is reflected in miniature on reflex zones on the hands and feet.
It includes the application of pressure and manipulation to specific zones, causing a reflex action in another part of the body, making it a specialised treatment.
Treatments can vary in length and intensity according to the nature of the problem and the client’s individual needs.
Foot and hand reflexology feels great to receive and has wonderful therapeutic qualities without any side effects and whilst some of these reflex points can be very painful, pressure is always adjusted to ensure this experience is more pleasant.
All kinds of ailments and afflictions ranging from headaches, insomnia and indigestion benefit from the use of reflexology.
Myofascial release therapy is an extremely powerful, yet subtle treatment whereby very light pressure is placed on various muscles and areas on the body.
It isused to treat skeletal muscle immobility and pain by relaxing contracted muscles and fascia, improving blood flow and stimulating the stretch reflex.
Specific techniques are held for up to 5 minutes allowing for deeper, longer lasting, three-dimensional changes to occur within the fascia (connective tissue), releasing built up restrictions, pain and accumulated tension in the body.
This style of massage is perfect for those people who do not like deep tissue massage yet have all the aches and pains that the activities of daily life provide.
Cupping therapy is a form of therapy whereby special silicon cups are squeezed to create a vacuum effect and then placed on specific muscles and the body and left for a few minutes to create suction.
This suction lifts the muscle and fascia by drawing more blood flow into tight muscles whilst at the same time releasing toxins.
People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain and tight muscles/trigger points, inflammationand improved sporting performance. Quite often cupping is used as part of DTM/Remedial Massage treatments.
Please note cupping can leave blood bruises especially when muscles and areas treated are super sensitive and tight. These bruises can last from anywhere from 4-7 days.
